Internal Pelvic Release Work (IPRW)
Internal Pelvic Release Work (IPRW) combines gentle deliberate internal release techniques and external bodywork to relieve tension in the pelvic area. Tension can cause discomfort, restrict movement and hold on to emotions and memories. Tension in the soft pelvis can arise from many things including trauma, postural habits, injuries and lifestyle choices.
The intention behind IPRW is to enhance pelvic floor function and promote overall wellbeing. IPRW works on the soft tissues and ligaments that help to support the bladder, bowel and reproductive organs. Using focused touch and intention, IPRW can help to create space and comfort within the soft tissues and facilitates reconnection with your body.
Women are unique in that this internal tension can be accessed via the vagina. Areas of tension can be felt and and the muscles and ligaments of the pelvis can be invited to soften, creating space and comfort.
Contact is made through the back wall of the vagina. It is through this area that we can use tender touch and directed breathing to free tension in the muscles, ligaments and fascia.
IPRW is indicated for all women who feel drawn to it but especially for:
Women preparing for birth
Women who want to understand why they ‘couldn’t birth’ their baby vaginally
Women who are healing from childbirth
Women who have been harmed by another
Women who experience pelvic pain or painful sex
Woman who experience vaginismus and vulvodynia
Women who have deep hip pain or painful periods
Women who have pelvic floor concerns and may have a prolapse or incontinence
Women who are curious about their pelvic health
